The Program for Medical Ultrasound of Wake Forest Innovations proudly joins the Society for Ultrasound in Medical Education and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine in celebrating 2013 as the “YEAR OF ULTRASOUND” and in promoting “ULTRASOUND FIRST.”
The campaign is designed to promote the widespread integration of ultrasound throughout the continuum of medical education and to raise awareness of ultrasound as a safe, effective and affordable imaging tool.
This very timely campaign supports the mission of Ultrasound First, an endeavor developed by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, devoted to education and increasing awareness of the effectiveness of ultrasound in enhancing patient care. A growing collection of clinical evidence is available through the Sound Judgment Series published in the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, as well as expert videos highlighting the importance of using ultrasound in clinical scenarios and integrating ultrasound into medical education.
Individuals can support this effort by:
- Mentoring a colleague
- Encouraging the addition of ultrasound to a medical school’s curriculum
- Publishing an article on the use of ultrasound to solve a particular problem
- Posting stories about the benefits of ultrasound in patient exam rooms and waiting areas
- “Like” the 2013 Year of Ultrasound Facebook page to stay informed about activities
